Greetings from the Nautilus Explorer

Today was our last day at Guadalupe Island…. It was bittersweet as we drove away from the “shark fin” rock off of Guadalupe’s norhtern sun soaked end and headed to the horizon. We were all sad that our time with the Great White Sharks had ended. We had some of the best shark action I had ever seen.
Each day we had at least six great whites at one time and more than ten individuals coming in and out of the area. After a few days, there were so many it was difficult to keep track of the new sharks coming in. Overall we identified, by photos, more than 25 sharks in the area of the Nautilus Explorer over the 5-day period.
The group of Germans, Swiss, and Austrians we have on board really didn’t want to leave and as this is a long-trip, we stayed an extra day at Guadalupe to soak it all in. Although it was it little sad to say goodbye to our toothed friends, we look forward to the diving still to come.
Next stop the kelp forests of San Benitos!
Until Next Time…
