February 23, Roca Partida

After four amazing dives today, words will have a hard time describing the fullness of emotion. “The sea, she takes lives” our dive master Sten said at the meeting held yesterday  following our first dive at Roca Partida. . For myself I can say partly to honour a woman who had a passion to dive in remote places and see things that not many people get to experience.  I also felt that to dive was to say “Life, I am here! today I go on, tomorrow is unknowable”  (edited partially by Captain Mike by request).

The 4 dives today were incredible. Every thing from diving in the blue chasing the sharks to rounding a strong current corner at the south point and getting some great video of 4 hammerheads (or 6, or 8 depending on who you speak to) I will go now to look at my footage and I am hopeful that I actually got some good shark shots. I’m so glad that I brought my camera! I finished the day with a small group of divers in the aluminum skiff on a photo expedition of the rock at magic hour. Awesome, remote, forlorn, rugged, beautiful, wild are some words that describe the scene, especially in the light of what has happened here. I would like to dive this spot many more times in my life. I would like to know it better.  Guest Sue
