Captain's report – Socorro Island diving.

2014_Apr13_Craig-Dietrich
Had a great afternoon at the Boiler yesterday with some playful giant mantas, lots of schooling hammerhead sharks and another tiger shark sighting.   Around 2130 got underway for Roca Partida. Had a beautiful, calm transit and arrived at RP around 0700. We were hailed by Navy vessel P103 as we approached Roca and asked the usual, standard questions.   Gorgeous day here, no more than 5 kts from the north all day, clear skies and a long gentle ground swell of 4-6′ from the NW
and from the south as well.  We’ve done two dives so far today. Very good diving, especially dive 1, with lots of sharks around. Hammies, galapagos, some big tuna, some divers had some good dolphin interaction. Current is strong for the rock however so dives have been short.
Thanks,
captain Gordon
