Socorro Island log from Captain Gordon.

Had a strong finish at Roca Partida yesterday and departed at 2130 for San Benedicto Island. A very comfy, easy transit arriving at the Canyon this morning around 7.
Did one dive at the canyon. Started off promising for the first divers in with some hammerhead sharks at the cleaning station coming in pretty close, but then the current changed and viz dropped out, so most people didn’t see much darn it. Guests are really great and understand that not every day will offer the spectacular big animal diving that we have been experiencing throughout the rest of the trip. During breakfast we moved up to the boiler. Conditions nice up here, about 10 kts from the NW with a 2-3′ chop but very low NW’ly swell. Mostly sunny today with some clouds. Just wrapping up our first dive at the Boiler. Was a great dive with lots of friendly dolphins and a couple giant mantas coming in to the divers as well. Viz 80ft plus and water temp much warmer then out at Roca Partida. Planning to spend the afternoon here. Not sure yet if we’ll head to Socorro Island tonight or tomorrow, depending on the forecast I get today.
No other boats here today.
Everything ok.
Thanks,
Captain Gordon
